Manuel Collas de La Roche

President & Founder

"The better world to which we all aspire is now within our reach. Deeply humanitarian, I am convinced that together we can move mountains by providing concrete solutions to tomorrow's challenges.

In 2016, driven by the desire to take part in this movement of awareness, I launched the Better World Fund.

Yes, there is hope.
Everywhere in the world, women and men are creating, innovating, and taking action for social inequalities and education. The Better World Fund’s ambition is to highlight and financially support these actions that give hope. The power of cinema and art seemed to me an obvious way to raise awareness and inspire global world citizens to act for the future of our planet."

Masterclass for Women’s Empowerment

An inspiring and meaningful program

In this masterclass, we'll delve into the often underrepresented history of women in jazz, exploring not only their invaluable contribution to the musical genre, but also the challenges they've had to overcome to make their mark in a traditionally male-dominated field.

From iconic figures such as Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald to contemporary talents who are redefining the genre, we'll analyse the current situation of women in jazz and discuss possible developments.

How has the presence of women in jazz evolved over the past decades? What obstacles do they still face and how can they be overcome?

Moderated by Guila Clara Kessous, Unesco Artist for Peace

Social entrepreneur and executive coach, she uses theatrical techniques and role-playing games as tools that can not only enhance corporate communication, but help heal those who have suffered from prior trauma, especially women. For her work with humanitarian causes, she has been nominated a “UNESCO Artist for Peace”, notably in link with her work in collaboration with Nobel Peace Prize Winner, Malala Yousafzai, using theatre to help women's empowerment.

As a certified coach, she has helped more than 500 senior executives (French Tech, CAC 40, Nasdaq 500) in their leadership responsibilities dealing with women's empowerment and conflict resolution. As an "Officier des Arts et des Lettres", she has been nominated a "Rising Talent" of the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society for her work in feminist diplomacy.

Women's Empowerment

For a better world

Women, the bearers of life, have the power to change the world for the better, for their children, for all of us.

Today, the representation of women on screen is essential to overcome gender stereotypes and deep-rooted prejudices.

By giving women more varied and complex roles, the cinema industry offers positive role models who challenge traditional expectations and encourage women's emancipation. This helps to create a more egalitarian and inclusive society by showing audiences that women can occupy all domains of life and have a significant impact.

In addition, the presence of women behind the camera also creates professional opportunities for other women in the film industry.

Cinema has a powerful cultural impact and can be a tool for promoting social change. It is therefore essential to continue to support and encourage the participation of women in all aspects of the film industry in order to create a more equitable and inclusive world for all.
